Lyle Tate

Lyle has been with the College of Optometry since February 2013 and is currently Director of Student Services. Lyle completed a Bachelor of Arts in English in 1999 and a Master of Science in Counselor Education/Student Affairs in Higher Education in 2011, both at Mississippi State University.

Outside of UHCO, Lyle has been active in community theatre for the past 23 years, volunteering locally with Baytown Little Theater and Theatre Network of Texas and nationally with the Southeastern Theatre Conference and the American Association of Community Theatres.

KaDarrius James

Hello! I am a Program Manager here in the Office of Student Services. My main role in our office is the recruitment and advising of prospective students. I also work with students throughout the admissions process for the Doctor of Optometry program.

I am originally from a small Alabama town with a population of less than 200. I earned my B.S. in Integrated Marketing Communications from the University of West Alabama and a Master of Arts in Digital Media from Sam Houston State University.

I have been at the University of Houston since 2018 and I have greatly enjoyed helping students who come from all walks of life. I always say to myself as well as to my students, that every student is unique, and I am willing to do whatever I need to do to help them be successful.

There’s a 99% chance that when I am not in the office, I am at home reading or playing video games. I am also a huge fan of all things Marvel, Star Wars, DC, and the Real Housewives.
